Few works deal with women of North African origin practising sport, even through their involvement in this field is significant. This thesis is to provide an insight into these women's social conditions and to understand the identity consequenses of sport practice (level of education, gender behaviour, religious practices. . . ). The purpose is to come to an understanding of the ways in which forms of sport and gender related socialisation can explain their intensive involvement within the sphere of a family of Maghreb origin. We conducted biographical interviews, observations and also a more general investigation into a sportive's of Maghreb origin family. The datas show the general characteristics of sports women of Maghreb origin and the environment in which their socialisation takes place and its mechanisms.
