The purpose of our thesis is to contribute to the study and research of the creation of an Egyptian film library. The study combines the structural elements that characterize the film heritage in general and that of Egypt in particular. The history, the richness of this heritage and its development in the Arab world are studied in light of the audiovisual hegemony of our times and to other film libraries/archives around the world. Many questions were raised, such as: What policies and measures must be taken to safeguard this heritage, to valorize it, to transmit it and to make it accessible to all audiences? How can we use new digital technologies and computers to achieve our objectives? That is what the different phases of our study and research is analyzing and confronting with the emergence of a growing cultural biodiversity. We also emphasize the uniqueness of the film heritage, both in its print and audiovisual form and its content: political and cultural, not to mention its transmission now associated with all audiovisual media present in our everyday lives. The research studied the film industry in Egypt, its development and its comparison to other similar industries in developed and undeveloped countries. We sought to analyze from the rich experiences of education the main points, and the significant achievements that may be applicable to a study for the creation of the Egyptian film library. Annexes highlight the efforts to collect comparative data obtained during the visits of four countries, which are Sweden, France, Canada, and Thailand. This study of activities and services developed for the valorization of cinematographic heritage was carried out taking into consideration the junction between the industrial structures of cinema in each country, their archives services, and the organization of film libraries. The study has focused on developing an appropriate methodology taking into consideration the specific aspects of the film: physico-chemical, technical and cultural.

Contribuer à l’étude et à la recherche en vue de la création d’une cinémathèque égyptienne est le but de notre thèse. L’étude réunit les éléments structurants qui caractérisent le patrimoine cinématographique en général et de l’Égypte en particulier. L’histoire, la richesse de ce patrimoine et son épanouissement dans le monde arabe sont étudiés à la lumière de l’hégémonie audiovisuelle de notre temps et en comparaison avec d’autres cinémathèques dans le monde. Quelles politiques et quelles mesures doivent être prises pour sauvegarder ce patrimoine, pour le valoriser, pour le transmettre et pour le rendre accessible à tous les publics ? Comment utiliser les nouvelles technologies numériques et informatiques pour mener à bout tous ces chantiers ? Nous analyserons l’état actuel de la question pour le comparer à l’émergence d’une biodiversité culturelle croissante. Aussi que la singularité du patrimoine cinématographique dans sa forme distincte de l’écrit et dans son contenu tout à la fois politique et culturel, sans oublier sa transmission aujourd’hui associé à tous les médias audiovisuels présents dans le quotidien. Notre recherche étudie l'industrie du cinéma en Égypte, son développement et sa comparaison à d’autres industries similaires de pays développés et sous-développés. Nous avons analyser à partir de ces expériences riches d’enseignement, les points essentiels et les résultats significatifs obtenus dont pourrait s’inspirer une étude pour la création d’une cinémathèque égyptienne. Cette étude sur le terrain des activités et des services développés pour la valorisation des patrimoines cinématographiques a été réalisée dans chaque pays à la lumière de la jonction entre les structures industrielles du cinéma, leurs services d’archives et l’organisation des cinémathèques. Nous avons développée une méthodologie appropriée à la recherche, en tenant compte de la spécificité physico-chimique, technique et culturelle des films.
