The new age has its origin in California and stems from the hippie movement. It's a trend marked by a world model very different from that of the western culture. This research explores different new age sources - from its beginings in previous centuries to its emergence in the modern world of the 70's - on historical, philosophical, sociocultural, artistic, scientific and religious levels. This research shows mat the new age, born in western christian society, draws several of its conceptions from other cultures : shamanism, hinduism, buddhism. This work also describes the concrete and psycho-mental tools and techniques which the new age makes use of and explains the paradigm and myths which grounds it: its rejection of christianity, of the rationalist science and of the predatory aspects of the western world, as well as the acceptance of a magical and mystical conception of the world. This work results in the updating of the archetype which underlines the new age, that of the + nonordinary healer of the world ;, i. E. A conviction - for the follower of the new age - of having outstanding powers of a magical nature, in order to provoke the transformation of the modern society to a golden age.

Le new age (nouvel âge), né en Californie et issu du mouvement hippie, est un courant de pensée marqué par un modèle du monde très différent de celui de la culture occidentale. Cette recherche explore les différentes sources du new age, depuis ses premisses dans les siècles passés jusqu'à son émergence dans le monde moderne dans les années 1970, et cela sur les plans historique, philosophique, socioculturel, artistique, scientifique et religieux. Cette recherche montre que le new age, né dans l'occident chrétien, puise aussi nombre de ses conceptions dans d'autres cultures : chamanisme, hindouisme, bouddhisme. Ce travail décrit également les outils et techniques concrets et psycho-mentaux dont se sert le new age et analyse le paradigme et les mythes le fondant : rejet du christianisme, de la science rationaliste et des aspects prédateurs de l'occident, et acceptation d'une conception magique-mystique du monde. Ce travail aboutit à la mise a jour de l'archétype sous-tendant le new age, celui du + réparateur non-ordinaire du monde ;, i. E. La conviction, pour le tenant du new age, de disposer de pouvoirs hors norme, de l'ordre du magique, pour provoquer la transmutation de la société moderne en age d'or.
