"Théâtralité" et "spectacularité" : une aventure tribale contemporaine à Bahia

The sociological perspective of this work is a comprehensive and relativist one. Its point of departure is the interface theatre anthropology. To define the "repetitive" interactions of "ordinary" days the researcher proposes the utilization of the notion of "theatricality". As theatrical activity, social life is composed not only of these everyday "ordinary" moments of "teatricality" but also of other "extra-ordinary" moments of mise en scene of social relations, which the researcher defines by the notion of "spectacularity". The researcher applies the notions of "theatricality" and "spectacularity" to three secondary research fields : a military school, the club Mediterranean and the interface theatre France brazil ; before applying them to the central research field, the "social space" of the city of Salvador, Bahia, between 1968 and 1978. The focus of the thesis is the "life history" of an "ideal" participant of a group of peers formed by young Bahian intellectuals, very active all along this period.

La perspective sociologique de ce travail se veut compréhensive et relativiste. Son approche se situe à l'interface théâtre anthropologie. Pour définir les interactions "répétitives de tous les jours "ordinaires" le chercheur propose la notion de "théâtralité". Ainsi comme l'activité théâtrale se constitue de "répétitions" et de "spectacles", la vie sociale se constitue non seulement de ces moments quotidiens de "théâtralité" mais aussi d'autres moments de mise en scène des rapports sociaux, que le chercheur définit par la notion de "spectaculaire". C’est le domaine des rituels, des cérémonies, des défiles etc. Le chercheur applique ces notions sur trois terrains de recherche secondaires, à savoir "une école militaire", "le club méditerranée" et "l'interface théâtre France-Brésil", pour aboutir à son application sur le terrain central de la recherche : l'espace social de la ville de Salvador de Bahia; entre 1968 et 1978. Le point d'ancrage de la thèse est représenté par un récit de vie d'un membre "idéal" d'un groupe de jeunes intellectuels bahianais, très actif tout au long de cette période.
