This is a study of the return migration from the point of view of the former migrant. It helps understanding how the latter has been shaped through migration. Back home, the way he acts, his face to face encounter with the world of the village put him in a universe that fosters a new, intentionally produced, art of living. Returning back to the countryside is not synonymous with returning to rural life. In the rural setting, one will try to live according to a life style similar to the urban one. The urban way of life acts on village life from within. Several of its components can be found to overlap : they come from the village, the town, and places further beyond. Away from the urban way of life that constitutes pockets within the village, and spread around, social hierarchies can be found which, at the same time, change and remain the same. A new nobility makes its appearance, especialy through wealth, but it keeps the same outlook in its dayly life style.

Cette étude de la migration de retour sous l'angle des vécus des anciens migrants, permet de saisir le fait suivant : la vie en migration a modèle le migrant. Au retour, son agir au quotidien, son face-à-face avec le monde villageois introduit celui-ci dans un univers ou apparaît un art délibéré de vivre autrement. Le retour au village n'est pas synonyme de retour à la vie villageoise. La terre rurale retrouvée est celle où on va tenter de vivre en fonction de la catégorie des personnes revenues, et, selon un mode de vie dans tous les cas de figures calqué sur l'urbanité. La citadinite agissante au sein de la ruralité se fait notamment par une imbrication à la fois des arts de faire relevant de la citadinité. D'ailleurs et de la ruralite. Loin des poches de citadinité qui font tache d'huile dans la société et le paysage ruraux, il y a au niveau des hiérarchies sociales des permanences et des ruptures. Les notabilités sont en recomposition, mais plus elles changent notamment par l'émergence d'une aristocratie financière, plus elles demeurent identiques dans leur apparence et dans leurs manières de vivre au quotidien.
