The main objective of this is to reflect upon the social universe of a city, using the cinematographic reception as the supporting point. Thus, the empirical perspective of the thesis lies on the experience the city of Londrina has had with the cinema, with special emphasis which directs this work tries to vedate the cinema as the privileged place in which one can understand a city. The relationship cinema city is understood within a dimension of reciprocity; that is, the city is the generator "per excellence" of topics and history for the cinema allows itself to perceive, through the images and generates, the contours of a fiction which cuts through the daily activities of a city. The division proposed in this thesis tries to answer this question. Part I deals with methodological questions. As the methodology is proposed, questions related to the city and the cinema are discussed within a theoretical framework. Part ii aims at an empirical description of the city of Londrina, keeping in mind the main objective of this work. In an attempt to approximate the two preceding parts the unique experience of Londrina with the cinema is discussed in part iii, the last part of the thesis.

Le but de cette thèse est d'étudier l'espace de socialité d'une ville, ayant dans la réception cinématographique son point d’appui. De cette façon, la perspective empirique du travail a dans l’expérience de Londrina avec le cinéma, en privilégiant les années cinquante et soixante, son fondement. L'hypothèse qui conduit le travail, cherche confirmer le cinéma en tant qu'un lieu privilégié pour la compréhension d'une ville. Ce rapport cinéma-ville est dans une dimension de réciprocité : la donatrice par excellence de thèmes et le cinéma, à travers ses films, permettant d'apercevoir les contours de la fiction qui traverse toute l'activité de la vie quotidienne. Elle comprend une première partie réservée pour les questions théoriques et méthodologiques du thème, ou sont développées les questions à propos du cinéma et la ville. Puis, dans la deuxième partie on cherche une description empirique de la ville de Londrina, ayant toujours à l'esprit l'objectif central du travail. Enfin, dans la troisième partie, on essaie d'approcher les deux parties précédentes, on va discuter l'expérience particulière que Londrina a entretenue avec le cinéma. Au même temps que la thèse cherche décrire particulière, elle ambitionne, dans une perspective plus formelle, indiquer le cinéma comme un dispositif privilégie pour réfléchir les villes d'une façon globale.
