La « débrouille » : migrants andins en France et accès aux droits

This research analyzes Andean migrants' individual and collective behaviour in France, in their attempt to reach social integration. The field work carried out in the Parisian region shows that the Andean migrants' preferred strategy can be characterized as "individual husding". The term points to the relationship between the individual and the law and institutions. The migrants deal with their situation by placing themselves outside of the legal framework as well as largely outside of institutions. This strategy is defined by the author and compared to other similar sociological concepts; it is then used to examine the behaviour of migrants of other origins. A number of recurring strategies can be analyzed using the concept of 'home society transfer', which explains the link between the migrants' home society's social and political context and the types of behaviour they display as immigrants.

A partir de l'observation des comportements et des formes d'organisation déployés par les Andins en France, cette recherche étudie la manière dont les migrants œuvrent pour parvenir à leur intégration sociale. L'enquête de terrain effectuée en région parisienne montre que la stratégie dominante chez les migrants andins est la « débrouille individuelle ». Ce terme caractérise un rapport entre l'individu et la loi ou les institutions. L'acteur vise à obtenir des résultats en se plaçant en dehors de la sphère du droit et à côté du cadre institutionnel. Le terme est défini et confronté à d'autres notions sociologiques proches, puis utilisé dans une typologie rendant compte du comportement d'autres groupes migratoires. La prégnance de certaines stratégies s'explique avec l'idée de la « transposition de la société d'origine », qui traduit le rapport existant entre le contexte social et politique de la société d'origine des individus et le type d'actions qu'ils déploient en tant qu'immigrants.
