This research wants to encircle the psycho-social identity of indian people of Martinique, comparing to the one of the black colour people and to the one of the Bekes (descents of the white colonists). The consideration that it exists between indians and black colour people conflictive relations has been the reason why we made an historic reconstitution of the conditions how these two groups got contact, and also the contact between indians and bekes who introduced the indians in Martinique. It was tried, in this work, to encircle the origine of the negative perception and representations about indians in Martinique and an historic reconstitution of their development has been made. It has been also tried to reconsider the classic post-plantocratic analysis which is normally used in the approach of the intergroups relations in Martinique and also tried to make an up-date by considering these relations not only in comparing the black mulattoes white behaviour, but also comparing the presence of the indians as social actors. Some psychosocial theories based on the intergroups relations pattern are reviewed in the purpose to serve for the formulation of the hypothesis which leads the empirical works of this study.

La présente recherche a eu pour objectif central de cerner l'identité psychosociale des indo-martiniquais en comparaison à celle des noirs gens de couleur et des békés (descendants de colons) au contact desquels cette identité revêt sa véritable dimension sociale. La considération qu'il existait entre indiens et noirs gens de couleur. Des relations de type conflictuel a été à l'origine de la reconstitution historique des conditions de mise en contact des groupes. Ont également été appréhendées les conditions de mise en contact des groupes indien et béké, ces derniers ayant initié la venue des indiens. Pour cerner l'origine des perceptions et représentations négatives qui ont cours sur les indiens, une reconstitution du cheminement historique de celles-ci a été entreprise, une remise en cause du schéma d'analyse post-plantocratique sur-utilisé dans l'approche des relations intergroupes tente d'actualiser le regard pose sur ces relations en ne les envisageant non plus seulement sous l'angle des rapports blanc mulâtres noir et en rompant la dichotomie noir blanc par une analyse a trois pôles qui prend en compte la présence du pole indien. Un certain nombre de théories psychosociales basées sur le modèle des relations intergroupes ont été passées en revue afin de servir a la formulation des hypothèses qui sous-tendent les travaux empiriques du présent travail (préenquête, enquête, expérience. . . . )
