The main purpose of this study is to demonstrate that social actors, conflicts and movements are actively being formed in a newly industrialized country, the south korea, even if they are hidden by the repressive and integrative intervention of the state and its ideology. The thesis is composed of seven chapters. Our theoretical orientation is presented in the introduction. Instead of following the two theories that have up to now been dominant, i. E. The modernization theory and the dependent theory, we have adopted the sociology of social movement elaborated by alain touraine. The role of the state in the industrialization process, the transformation of the class structure, the logic of the dominant ideology and the formation of the capitalist are analyzed respectively from chapter 1 to 3. We have done this in order to provide a context in which the formation of the social movements can be analyzed. In chapter 4, the counter-ideology developed by critical intellectuals under the name of the theory of the minjung is explored. Chapter 5 examines the socio-political intervention of the churches. The object of chapter 6 is to shed light on the attempt of the student movement to ally themselves with the working class. The last chapter deals with the general evolution of consciousness and the forms of actions of the working class. The conclusion analyzes the three dimensions of social movements and sketches four scenarios for the future of korean society.

Le but principal de notre these est de montrer la formation des mouvements sociaux dans un pays divise en deux etats qui a connu une forte et rapide industrialisation sous la direction d'un etat autoritaire : la coree du sud. Dans l'introduction nous construisons notre problematique. Au lieu de suivre les deux theories qui ne donnent pas la place aux acteurs sociaux, nous avons choisi la sociologie des mouvements sociaux elaboree par alain touraine. Le premier chapitre montre d'une part le role de l'etat dans l'industrialisation d'autre part la transformation de la structure des classes sociales. Le deuxieme chapitre analyse la structure et la fonction de l'ideologie dominante qui se manifeste dans le discours presidentiel. Dans le troisieme chapitre nous mettons en lumiere le processus de formation de la bourgeoisie industrielle. Le quatrieme chapitre est consacre a l'analyse de l'ideologie contestataire produite par les intellectuels critiques. Dans le cinquieme chapitre est analysee l'intervention des eglises dans la politique et dans le monde ouvrier. Le sixieme chapitre a pour but d'explorer la modalite de jonction des etudiants et des ouvriers. Dans le septieme chapitre nous examinons les differents modes d'analyse des actions ouvrieres et montrons l'evolution generale de l'action et de la conscience des travailleurs coreens. La conclusion est consacree a l'analyse des trois dimensions des mouvements sociaux en coree du sud. Et nous dressons quatre scenarios pour l'avenir de la coree du sud.
