This thesis is about the transformations but also the constancies of the militancy in the "ligue communiste révolutionnaire" (lcr- révolutionary communist league). The thesis aims at beinc comprehensive regarding this topic; it sets forth the individual, organizational, and social aspect. Consequently, we take into account the social trajectories of lcr members, the work of the militant institution and the effects of social context on the two previous dimensions. We use a longitudinal method. "participating observation", bibliographics interviews and the collection of documents belonging to the studied organization are the bases of dur analysis. The research lays emphasis on the strong impact of the evolutions of the social and political contexts, especially the differents forms of social strife, on the militancy in the lcr. These elements have influence on the reasons why peuple join or leave the lcr, on the political practices and on the scope of the lcr activities. At the same time, the way lcr activists militate, driven by an avant-gardist vocation show many constancies. Elective and distinctive logics that make certain of a cohesion transcending the effects of the context are part of the explanation of these constancies. So as to understand the latter, we analyse the social and individual features of the lcr militants.

Cette thèse porte sur les transformations et sur les invariances du militantisme à la ligue communiste révolutionnaire. La problématique s'inscrit dans une visée clinique. Elle articule les aspects individuel, orcanisationnel et social de notre objet, prenant ainsi en compte les trajectoires sociales des individus, le travail de l'institution militante, et les effets du contexte social sur ces deux dimensions. Elle s'inscrit dans une démarche diachronique. Le matériau exploité repose sur la conduite d'entretiens biographiques, sur de l'observation participante, sur le recueil de document appartenant à l'organisation étudiée. La recherche fait apparaitre le fort impact des évolutions du contexte social et politique, en particulier des formes de contestation qui y prennent place, sur le militantisme à la lcr. Les raisons de s'engager ou de se désengager, les pratiques politiques et les terrains de lutte investis, les effectifs mêmes de l'organisation, en termes de flux et de reflux, en portent la trace. Dans le même temps, les façons de militer y présentent des invariants solides, guidés par une vocation avant-gardiste. Le mode de fonctionnement de la lcr repose sur des logiques électives et distinctives, qui assurent une cohésion transcendant les effets de contexte. Ces invariants sont aussi rapportés aux caractéristiques sociales des militants, ainsi qu'aux problématiques récurrentes qui traversent leurs trajectoires.
