This doctorate states the reality of fiction, the mixing of the real and the fictions, and to determine the relationship between both based on a precise example, that of a fantastic monster. It is therefore dualistic and antinomic. But, on the other hand it considers reality and fiction in such a way that we hope to reduce a great deal, if not suppress the difficulties of interpretation that the dualism or intrusion of a third party have always raised. This dualism or intrusion of a third party, used most often in pondering over fiction could only be a misleading of knowledge. The object of our thesis is to demonstrate how and why the imaginary image of the fantastic monster is created and that we should not assimilate fiction with the production of a poetic mind or, on the other hand of an ill mind, fiction, imaginary image, fantastic monster correspond, for us, to an unlimited field of real impressions. And by written or drawn imginary image we mean an existence, more or less perceptible, sometimes analysable, which, not only mixes with real life but which also represents partially that life. Ce doctorat affirme la réalité de l'imaginaire, la fusion du réel et du fictif, et essaie de déterminer le rapport de l'un à l'autre base sur un exemple précis, celui du monstre fantastique. Il est donc nettement dualiste et antinomique. Mais, d'autre part, il envisage réalité et fiction de telle manière que nous espérons atténuer beaucoup, sinon supprimer, les difficultés interprétatives que le dualisme, ou l'intrusion d'un tiers, a toujours soulevées ; la scission entre la réalité et l'imaginaire, développée la plupart du temps dans les réflexions sur l'imaginaire, pourrait n'être qu'une mauvaise condition de la connaissance. L'objet de notre thèse est de montrer comment et pourquoi il y a création de l'image imaginaire du monstre fantastique, qu'il est faux de réduire l'imaginaire a une représentation fébrile, ou qu'il est faux, inversement, de l'assimiler à la richesse de poétisation sociale qu'il est censé contenir. L'imaginaire, l'image imaginaire, le monstre fantastique, pour nous, sont un ensemble informe d'impressions réelles. Et par image imaginaire lexicale ou graphique, nous entendons une certaine existence plus ou moins perceptible, parfois analysable, un sens commun, quotidien, qui non seulement se fond dans la vie réelle, mais qui représente également en partie cette vie ; elle sert un sens social et un lien social, une communion des impressions. Le monstre fantastique réunit la communauté sociale pour faire face à l'inconnu qu'elle se crée, que nous cernons aujourd'hui autour des thèmes tels que la mort et l'infini
