Retour au Japon : migrations des Brésiliens d'origine japonaise et invention identitaire

Since granting access in 1990 to descendants of Japanese emigrants, up to the third generation, Japan has known an influx of migrants from South America and especially from Brazil. The present dissertation draws on the specific case of the migration to Japan of Brazilians of Japanese descent in order to explore issues of immigration in Japan, racial prejudice in Brazil,. And the transformation of Brazil into an emigration country, if not the homeland to a new diaspora. What can be mistaken at first for the return of minority members to their country of origin partakes of individual migration strategies that lead to other countries such as Australia, and a renewed relationship of the "japanese” minority to the Brazilian nation. This case study allows for a thorough questioning of the impact of migration on minorities and of the development of transnational solidarities in the context of globalization and the acceleration of international mobility

Depuis la mise en place en 1990 d'un dispositif légal favorisant le séjour des descendants d'émigrés japonais, jusqu'à la troisième génération, le Japon connaît un afflux de migrants venus d'Amérique Latine et tout particulièrement du Brésil. À partir de l'examen du phénomène migratoire qui mène au Japon des Brésiliens d'origine japonaise, la thèse explore la question de l'immigration au Japon, le préjugé au Brésil et la transformation historique du Brésil en pays d'émigration, sinon en foyer d'une nouvelle diaspora. Ce qui apparaît de prime abord comme le retour d'une minorité au pays de ses origines participe autant de stratégies migratoires individuelles qui mènent vers des espaces tiers, telle l'Australie, que d'un rapport renouvelé de la minorité "japonaise" à la nation brésilienne et permet d'interroger le devenir des minorités en migration et le développement de solidarités transnationales dans le contexte de la globalisation et de l'accélération de la mobilité internationale
