Role et fonctions du mouvement associatif dans l'insertion des communautes immigrees : vie associative et enjeux interculturels

The evolution of the notion of "intercultural" is analised in parallel with the notion of culture and the stages of integration of immigrant communities in france (and particulary the people from the maghreb and south-east asia). Then, a reflexionunderlines the problems of (cultural) identity in the intercultural situation and the psychological processes which are at the basis of racist behaviors. Finally, the part and functions of associative movements are focused, the psychological, relational and institutional function of associations of immigrants are put on relief, thanks to an survey done within associations (questionnaires) and discussions with associations organizers in the surroundings of toulouse. The analysis of the processes studies in the intercultural situation and the caracteristics of the associations, leanings on the theorie of the interstructuration of individuals and institutions show how the associations can be regarded as intermediary or transitional places. These associations, dynamic subsets of society, allow at the same time the compensation of the lacks and frustration linked to the immigrant situation, the discovery and the suitability to the new ways of life, but also, as institutions, mutual and plural integration and the opening up of minority culture within a pluricultural society.

L'evolution de la notion d'interculturel est analysee en parallele avec celle de culture et les etapes de l'integration des communautes migrantes en france ( et en particulier celles originaires du maghreb et du sud-est asiatique ). Puis, une reflexion sur les problemes d'identites (culturelles) en situation et les processus psychologiques qui sous-tendent les comportements racistes est proposee. Enfin, le role et les fonctions des mouvements associatifs sont abordes et sont mis en valeur les fonctions psychologiques, relationnelles et institutionnelles des associations d'immigres a partir d'une enquete aupres d'assocations (questionnaires) et d'animateurs d'asociations (entretiens) de la region toulousaine. A partir de l'analyse des processus etudies dans la situation interculturelle et de caracteristiques des associations, mais aussi sur la base d'une theorie de l'interstructuration des individus et des institutions, est montre comment les associations peuvent etre considerees comme des espaces intermediaires ou transitionnels et sont a meme de constituer des espaces, sous-ensembles dynamiques de la societe, qui permettent de compenser les manques et les rustrations relatifs a la situation d'immigre, de decouvrir et de s'approprier des modes de vie nouveaux, mais aussi, en tant qu'institutions, une integration reciproque et plurielle et l'expression des cultures minoritaitres au sein d'une societe pluriculturelle.
