The representation of mental illness in the baoule land is strongly linked with the notion of intervention of symbolic forces entities such as: the spirit of ancestorsthe spirits of the bush - witchraft and some more else - therefore, the treatment of mental disorders is carried on through the only canal of the psychotherapeutic technique. So, this study tries to give prominence to the notion of mental illness, the relationship with socio-cultural structures, the different systems and the models of the therapeutic relationship in traditional baoule society. When and where do these socio-cultural structures intervene? how do traditional healers manage to conduct the therapeutic ritual which consists in fighting and manipulating these symbolic forces? always in the way of suppressing guilt of the sick person, by reconciling him with his group and home environment.

La representation de la maladie mentale en pays baoule est fortement liee a la notion d'intervention d'entites de forces symboliques telles que: l'esprit des ancetres - les genies de la brousse - la sorcellerie et d'autres encore. Par consequent, le traitement des troubles mentaux suit par le seul canal de la technique psychotherapique. Donc, cette etude tente de mettre en evidence la notion de maladie mentale, la relation avec les structures socio-culturelles, les differents systemes et les modeles de la relation therapeutique dans la societe traditionnelle baoule. Quand et ou interviennent ces structures socio- culturelles? comment s'y prennent les guerisseurs traditionnels pour conduire le rituel therapeutique qui consiste a combattre, manipuler ces forces symboliques? toujours dans le sens de deculpabiliser le malade, le reconcilier avec le groupe et le milieu.
