The objective is to study the relation between the psychosocial identity and the attitude towards returning to the country of origin in adult algerian immigrants of both sexes, resident in the area around lille. In the first part, we shall examine the theoretical study of the concept of identity, notably the definition, the origins of the identity and the impact of the socio-cultural milieu on identity. The second part concerns the study of algerian immigration and the problems posed by their return from an economic, legislative and socio-cultural point of view. To follow, we shall treat the stages in the transplantation of the migrant, the inter-group relationship between french society and the algerian immigrant community, and also the perspective of the return for the first and second generations. In the last part, we shall tackle the methodology and the results of the psychological survey. Our main hypothesis is that a preservation of the fundamental aspects of the culture of origin favours in the algerian immigrant a positive attitude towards returning. The analysis of the results of our survey, which consists of an interview and two tests which permit the collection of components of psychosocial identity

L'objectif est d'etudier chez des immigres algeriens adultes des deux sexes, residant dans la region lilloise, les liens existant entre leur identite psychosociale et leur attitude envers le retour dans leur pays d'origine. La premiere partie est consacree a l'etude theorique du concept d'identite, notamment sa definition, ses determinants et l'impact du milieu socio-culturel sur l'identite. La deuxieme partie concerne l'etude de l'immigration algerienne et la problematique du retour des immigres algeriens d'un point de vue economique, legislatif et socio-culturel. Ensuite, sont abordes les etapes de la transplantation du migrant, les rapports inter-groupes entre la societe francaise et la communaute algerienne immigre ainsi que la perspective du retour pour la premiere et la deuxieme generation des immigres algeriens. Dans la derniere partie, nous abordons la methodologie de l'enquete et ses resultats. Notre hypothese principale est que la preservation des aspects fondamentaux de la culture d'origine favorise chez l'immigre algerien une attitude positive envers le retour. L'analyse des resultats de notre enquete, qui comporte un entretien sur le retour et des tests permettant le recueil des composantes de l'identite psychosociale comme le "qui suis-je ?" et la methode de m.
