Cadres et processus dans les situations de formation d'adultes : contribution psychologique à une problématique du changement

The idea of changing, related to the adult, is studied by reference to a true situation of adult education. One would like to know whether this changing comes from an internal psychic influence and or from the influence of a social group, or rather from an institution: the answer to this question can be given only after a clear definition of the adult personality. The study of a French traditional symbolical society: "the guild of workmen" allows us - to start with - to find out the way the ritual systems and the mythical systems operate in the personal changing. Then a critical analysis of three practices of adult education allows us to notice the strong dependency on the institution which realizes it, for any act aiming at a change: this dependency looks both ineluctable and necessary. All those studies will lead us to an attempt to describe the evolutional becoming of the adult personality. The theoretical propositions written by d. W. Winnicott give us a basis for the interpretation of the studied connections (psychic activity and social organization, educational act and set frame, personal transformation and symbolical structure). The link between psychological reactions and a set frame can be described in relation to the psychic dynamism ; the partially interpersonal origin of the processes which are the bases of the psychic life explain the functions of the set frame in the operations related to the evolution of people. The required conditions for a personal transformation, referring to the social and intrapersonal compounding of the psychic organization, can then be formulated.

La notion de changement, appliquée à l'adulte, est abordée par référence à une situation concrète de formation. La question est posée de la nature plutôt intrapsychique et ou intra-groupale, ou plutôt institutionnelle du changement : son examen renvoie à une définition rigoureuse de la personnalité adulte. A l'occasion de son établissement sont repérées les bases institutionnelles de l'organisation psychique correspondante. La référence à une société symbolique traditionnelle, le "compagnonnage ouvrier", permet d'abord de discerner le mode d'opérativité des systèmes mytho-rituelliques de transformation personnelle. Une réflexion critique sur trois pratiques de formation des adultes conduit ensuite a caractériser la forte dépendance de toute activité d'intention formative par rapport à l'institution qui l'abrite ou la promeut : cette dépendance apparait à la fois inéluctable et nécessaire. L'ensemble des matériaux préalablement rassembles est alors organise en forme d'essai sur le destin évolutif de la personnalité adulte. Les propositions théoriques formulées par d. W. Winnicott fournissent une base d'interprétation des correspondances observées (activité psychique et organisation sociale, activité formative et cadre organisationnel, transformation personnelle et organisation symbolique), ainsi qu'un mode de repérage des processus psychiques qui s'y trouvent à l'œuvre. Le lien observe entre des manifestations psychologiques et un cadre institutionnel peut-être défini par rapport à la dynamique psychique ; l'origine partiellement interpersonnelle des processus qui fondent la vie psychique rend compte des fonctions du contexte institutionnel dans les opérations propres au changement des personnes. Les conditions requises pour le déroulement d'un processus de transformation personnelle, compte tenu de ses appuis dans les composantes sociales et intrapersonnelles de l'organisation psychique, peuvent alors être énoncées.
