That work studies the conditions of acknowledgment of the right for the people to be associated and the rolls which have been given at the associations by the french liberal thought. For the first point, we will see that the basic condition is the acknowledgment of the irreductible character of the social conflict, the renounciation at a unique representation of the society. From then, - the autonomy of the state have to be secured and people must have economic rights. . - the civl society have to be organized, the contractors have to negociate with workers associations. - the working class have to be educated, here is the basic roll of the associations, which make her seller of her labour power. The french liberal thought wants the associations to regulate the problems producted by the liberal economy : to product among the people and workers an economic behavior. With associations, the civil society find her autonomy, and as the negociation of the differnt interests is realized in the economic sphere, the state find his autonomy too.

Ce travail se propose d'etudier les conditions de la reconnaissance du droit a s'associer ainsi que les roles qui furent devolus aux associations par les liberaux francais. Sur le premier point, on retiendra que la condition fondamentale, en ce qui concerne la france, cadre de cette etude, est la reconnaissance du caractere irreducible de la lutte des classes, la renonciation a une representation unique de la societe. De la decoulent trois besoins * -degager l'etat du champ des revendications par l'acces a la citoyennete economique. - organiser la societe civile et obliger le patronat notamment a negocier avec les associations ouvrieres, -former la classe ouvriere et la rendre raisonnable, via l'association, et marchande de sa force de travail. Les fonctions devolues par les liberaux francais a l'association sont donc de prendre en charge les problemes issus du fonctionnement de l'economie marchande, de produire des sujets marchands, ce qui assure l'autonomie de la societe civile ; de rejeter les revendications dans la sphere economique, d'etre une instance d'expression et de negociation de ces revendications, ce qui assure l'autonomie de l'etat.
