The new Tunisian state which succeeded the French protectorate is principalitie to all intents and purposes. It acquired an authority over the people using both weapons and low - and that ensured its stability and glory. Howewer, collective glory soon gave way to the personal glory, hence its breaking point from "machiavelian times" and the return to the "khaldounien times", is marked by the externality of the state towards society. The aim of the study is to verify the validity of this hypothesis by analysing the struggle procedures, the reforms that were introduced as well as the glory and its monopolisation by the founder.

Le nouvel état tunisien qui succéda au protectorat français est un état princier. Il a acquis autorité sur les hommes par l'usage des armes et des lois, ce qui lui assura stabilité et gloire. Cependant, la gloire collective céda vite la place à la gloire personnelle, d'où la rupture du "temps machiavélien" et le retour du "temps khaldounien" caracterisé par l'extériorité de l'état vis à vis de la société. Le but de la recherche est de vérifier cette hypothèse en analysant le rôle central du prince, les procédés de la lutte, les réformes introduites ainsi que la gloire et son accaparement par le fondateur.
