"Ecoles parallèles", école et fait rural : contribution à l'étude de l'évolution des rapports entre la radiodiffusion, l'école et le monde rural : Le cas de la Tunisie ( 1957-1987 )

The development of relations between tunisia's rural inhabitants radio broadcasting and schooling between 1957-1987 witnessed three successive periods : a period of enchantment, a period of disenchantment and a period of "credibility crises". The first period was one that gave birth to certain hope for the rural population; optimism in state schools served as a guarantee for a better future for rural inhabitants and their children and the hope that they would be able to use radio broadcasting to suit their needs, desires and expectations. The second period was marked by deception which was strongly felt within the rural community (adults and school-aged children) in regards to their education (finished the myth of school-saviour) while radios were often used for political propaganda. The third period was that of "credibility crises" when all public institutions were regarded with suspicion. Future perspectives : - a reorganization of the educational system; - an involved contri- bution to the development of communications ; - progressive improve- ments in the socio-economic conditions of the rural population.

L'evolution des rapports des habitants ruraux tunisiens avec la radiodiffusion et l'ecole, entre 1957 et 1987, a connu, grosso modo, trois periodes successives : une periode d'enchantement, une periode de desenchantement et une periode de crises de credibilite. La premiere periode a vu naitre bien des espoirs chez les ruraux. Espoir en l'ecole publique percue comme le gage d'un avenir meilleur et pour eux et pour leurs enfants. Espoir de se servir de la radiodiffusion pour exprimer leurs besoins, leurs preoccupations et leurs attentes. La deuxieme periode a ete marquee par des deceptions fortement ressenties par les ruraux (adultes et enfants scolarises) vis-avis de la scolarisation (fin du mythe de l'ecole salvatrice) et de la radio utilisee souvent comme un instrument de propagande pour le pouvoir politique. La troisieme periode a ete celle des crises de credibilite par rapport a l'ensemble des institutions publiques. Perspectives d'avenir : - proceder a une refonte du systeme educatif ; - developper une com- munication utilitaire participative ; - ameliorer, sans cesse, les conditions socio-economiques des ruraux.
