The Algerian democratic process initiated in the end of the eighties seemed like an enriching experience on a several levels. First, it may allow us to discover the genuineness of political actors who has been charged to instigate the future democratic project. At the same time, it can give us the possibility to evaluate the regime transformations, based during more than three decades on the government by the unique party. This later, subsequent to a multidimensional crisis, paralysing nearly the whole almost of institutions functioning, has tried by introducing modifications regarding the political outlines, to start a new democracy era. In order to reach this purpose, the regime had at one's disposal a wide range of laws and regulations proclaimed more particularly by the constitution of February 1989. Consequently, our thinking will be based more on a kind of exhaustive diagnostic concerning the development of the democratic process.

L'expérience démocratique algérienne des années quatre vingt nous apparaît enrichissante à plusieurs plans. D'abord, elle nous permet de découvrir la sincérité des acteurs politiques sur lesquels allait s'appuyer le projet démocratique à venir. Dans le même temps, elle pourrait nous offrir les possibilités de mesurer l'ampleur de la métamorphose d'un régime basé durant plus de trois décennies sur le gouvernement du parti unique. Ce dernier, suite à une crise multidimensionnelle, notamment le blocage politique paralysant presque tout le fonctionnement des institutions, a tenté à travers l'introduction des changements dans la configuration politique d'ouvrir une nouvelle ère, celle de la démocratie. Pour atteindre l'objectif, il avait mis à disposition une panoplie de lois et de règlements proclamés particulièrement dans la Constitution de février 1989, inaugurant pour la première fois, un pluralisme politique. Ainsi, notre réflexion sera portée sur un diagnostic plus au moins intégral de l'évolution du processus démocratique algérien.
