Les causes des « sans » à l’épreuve de la médiatisation : la construction médiatique des mobilisations sociales émergentes : enjeux et perspectives

Assuming on the fact that the analysis of the interactions between social movements and media, however essential to the comprehension of the processes of social problems construction, was until now a peripheral object of interest, this work proposes to deal with these problems starting from the study of the relations between “low resources groups” and TV journalists. On the basis of pluri-methodological and comparative ground investigations, this dissertation proposes to question the forms of mediatic politisation or depolitization of the homeless persons, the illegals immigrants and the unemployed people causes, in the context of the neoliberal and repressive evolutions of the Welfare state. While applying from a critical point of view the framing analysis perspective, this research opens with a range of topics returning as well to the contemporary transformations of the practices of journalism or the militancy as to the effects of media information on the audience.

Se fondant sur le constat que l’analyse des interactions entre mouvements sociaux et médias, pourtant indispensable à la compréhension des processus de construction des problèmes publics, n’a fait l’objet jusqu’à présent que d’un intérêt périphérique, ce travail se propose de creuser cette problématique à partir des rapports qu’entretiennent les groupes à faibles ressources et les journalistes de télévision. Sur la base d’une enquête de terrain pluri-méthodologique et comparative, la thèse propose d’interroger les modalités de (dé)politisations médiatiques des causes portées par les sans-logis, les sans-papiers et les sans-emploi, dans le contexte du tournant néo-libéral et sécuritaire de l’Etat-providence. En appliquant d’un point de vue critique la perspective du cadrage, cette recherche ouvre à un ensemble de questionnements renvoyant aussi bien aux transformations contemporaines des pratiques du journalisme ou du militantisme qu’aux effets de l’information médiatique sur le public.
