Started under the french administration, the price control has become, since togo and benin attainment of independance, a public policy applicated in order to satisfy socio-economic objectives which are generally contraditory. Its application has not been only confrontated to limits, but has also created effects which are far of those expected. However, contrary to the propositions of the international authorities. Notably the world bank and the imf, the so generated gaps aren't sufficient to justify a total liberalization of price. The control of those prices has had some merits. So, only the institution of a semi-liberal regulation of price will allow togo and benin public authorities to face this situation.

Amorce sous l'administration francaise, le controle des prix est devenu des l'accession du togo et du benin a l'independance, une politique publique destinee a la satisfaction d'objectifs contradictoires. Son application n'a pas seulement connu des limites mais elle a aussi engendre des effets qui sont loin de ceux escomptes. Cependant, contrairement aux propositions des autorites internationales notamment la banque mondiale et le f. M. I. , les decalages ainsi observes ne suffisent pas a justifier une liberalisation totale des prix. Le controle de ces prix a eu quelques merites. Ainsi, seule l'instauration d'un regime semi-liberal des prix permettra-t-il aux autorites publiques togolaises et beninoises de faire face a cette situation.
