The study in this thesis is concerned principally with the domain of agricultural geography, especialy in the mountain regions of the north of morocco. It consists of an analysis of forms of organisation of agricultural areas in the rif region and the problems that are caused by the carious forms of organisation, and their impact on the society in the central southern rif area. In order to study these of organisation of agricultural areas we have adopted an plan which comprises three separate but integral parts : the first in concerned with the natural milieu, its elements and its main characteristics, as well as its impact on its agricultural organisation and the population and housing distribution. The second part deals with the basis of organisation in this region. It expose firstly the population growth and the reasons for it, as well as the phenomenon of migration and housing in the region. It also discusses the agricultural structures and forms of rural organisation in the area, emphasizing the imbalance between population growth and small-holdings as well as the techniques of soil utilisation. The third part is reserved to study of menagement in the area and the changement of the society, also the methods put into practice.

L etude que nous abordons dans cette these entre dans le domaine de la geographie agraire et concerne une region montagneuse du nord du maroc. Elle consiste a analyser les formes d organisation de l espace agricole de cette region rifaine et les problemes que provoquent chaque aspect de ces formes d organisation et leurs impacts sur la societe et l espace sud-rifain. Pour etudier ces formes d organisation de l espace agricole, nous avons adopte un plan qui s articule en trois parties : la premiere partie est consacree a l etude du milieu naturel, ses composantes et ses caracteristiques principales, ainsi qu a son impact sur l organisation agricole et la distribution de la population et de l habitat la deuxieme partie traite des fondements de l organisation dans la region. Elle expose d abord l evolution de la population et ses facteurs, ainsi que le phenomene migratoire et l habitat. Ensuite, cette partie traite les structures agraires et les formes d organisation rurale dans la region, en mettant l accent sur le desequilibre "forte population petite agriculture", ainsi que les types d utilisation du sol et leur condition de production. La troisieme partie est reservee a l etude de l amenagement, de l evolution de l espace et de la societe rifaine meridionale, en illustrant ce phenomene par l etude des projets d amenagemen
