The point of this investigation is to scrutinize the way litterature is taught in venezuela at general and technique levels, between 10-12 grades. The research consists in three phases aimed at showing that 1. Teaching litterature at 10-12th grades is quite relevant to provide education. 2 this teaching fosters methodological and didactic strategies promoting a positive involvement of pupils, in order to put forth the pedagogic background implied by the discovery of their surroundings and culture. 3. Teaching litterature can also give birth to methodological and didactic strategies enabling the pupils to realize that imagination can be a powerful intellectual tool for a better approach of realities. Phase i is dealt with in chapters i to iii wherein theoretical views about teaching litterature are considered - a step made necessary previous to analyzing the problems of this teaching in venezuela, at grades 10-12. Phase ii appears in chapter iv. "the investigation", exposing the theme of this research, along with its methodology; interviews are analyzed on this problem with various teachers specialized in the domain and representative samples of students in the fied of litterature. In chapter v, phase iii offers conclusions and inferences to be used as a starting point for further investigations dealing more specifically with the teaching of litterature

Le theme central des presentes recherches est l'analyse de la situation de l'enseignement de la litterature a la fin du secondaire general et technique dans le systeme scolaire du venezuela. L'etude a fait intervenir trois grandes phases ayant essentiellement pour objet de demontrer 1 que l'enseignement de la litterature au niveau precite se justifie tout a fait, dans la mesure ou il constitue un excellent moyen de produire une education, 2 que l'enseignement de la litterature permet de mettre en oeuvre des strategies methodologicodidactiques favorisant une implication positive de l'eleve, pour creer les conditions pedagogiques qu'exige la decouverte de son entourage et de sa culture; 3 que l'enseignement de la litterature peut aussi susciter des strategies methodologico-didactiques permettant a l'eleve de se rendre compte a quel point l'imagination est un outil intellectuel precieux pour mieux decouvrir la realite. La premiere phase correspond aux chapitres i,ii et iii, ou figurent une serie de considerations theoriques sur l'enseignement de la litterature en general, etape prealable a l'analyse de la problematique de cet enseignement dans le cadre de la fin des etudes secondaires au venezuela. La seconde phase correspond au chapitre iv, intitule "l'enquete", ou l'on expose le theme de la recherche, la methodologie retenue, et ou l'on procede a l'analyse des interviews realisees sur cette problematique aupres de differents professionnels qui se consacrent a l'enseignement de cette discipline, ainsi que d'un echantillon representatif d'etudiants en litterature. La troisieme phase correspond au chapitre v ou l'on propose un certain nombre de conclusions et de recommandations qui peuvent servir de point de reference pour des etudes plus specifiques concernant l'enseignement de cette matiere.
