Since the beginning of the century, the number of working hours in the western industrialized countires has been considerably reduced accompanied by an increase of leisure and free time in general. New technologies and networks are responsible for a substantial time saving, which could be the cause of increasing leisure in the furure and the development of "interstitial" leisure networks. The combined specific local features of natural and cultural sites would then cause the development of an "interstitial" urban restructuring and could become the driving force behind a highly technical and hierarchized society during the short working hours but "anarchic" during the long leisure hours. This situation belongs to the realm of science fiction and cannot be conceived but in a distant future realized after some "appropriate bifurcations". A future, where the whole planet will have resolved its spatial, economic and cultural inequalities, where all inhabitants, independently of their origine and status, could enjoy the same "privileges" during their long leisure time.

Depuis le debut du siecle, la reduction du temps de travail dans les pays occidentaux a ete massive, accompagnee par l'augmentation des loisirs et du temps libre en general. Les nouvelles technologies et la reseautisation generalisee sont a l'origine d'un gain de temps considerable qui pourrait etre la cause de l'augmentation du temps de loisirs dans l'avenir et du developpement de reseaux interstitiels de loisirs. Les particularites locales combinees des sites naturels et culturels seraient alors a la base d'une recomposition urbaine interstitielle et deviendraient les moteurs d'une societe soumise a une technique hautement hierarchisee pendant les temps courts du travail lie, mais politiquement "anarchique" pendant les longues periodes des temps de loisirs. Cette situation reste dans le domaine de la science-fiction et ne peut etre placee que dans un futur lointain, amene par une serie de "bifurcations appropriees"; un futur ou la planete entiere aura resolu les problemes d'inegalites economiques, territoriales et culturelles; ou chacun de ses habitants, independamment de ses origines ou statut socioprofessionnel, grace a son travail lie, pourra beneficier des memes "privileges" pendant ses longs temps libres.
