In order to fight an ever-increasing unemployment, the governements for over thirty years have taken measures according to a classification of job-seekers. The thesis treats of the specific category labelled " problem young people ". Intending to understand what was the significance of an orientation which motivated this category of young people to find a job, I started by studying a few modern researches on the subject. It was necessary for me to understand how a jobless young person was described by sociologists. This helped me to answer the following questions : How young people react to this way of creating categories ? How they estimate themselves ? How they build up their own way to enter the working world ? I treated these questions by interviewing forty seven young persons. In the end, I found a more relevant classification of jobless young persons. That classification entails a way of speaking different from the one the counsellors of a youth job center called " Mission locale " use to justify an orientation which motivates the young people in quest of a job.
