The climate of the eastern Atlantic ocean is investigated as an ocean-atmosphere problem. The role of the ocean is drawn in the definition and in the variability of the regional climate dominated by the quasi-permanent subtropical anticyclone between the Azores and the Cape Verde Archipelag ; emphasis is on the physical processes at work in the coupled ocean-atmosphere system.

Le climat de l'Atlantique oriental est envisagé sous le prisme des interactions entre l’océan et l'atmosphère. Il s'agit de rechercher le rôle de l’océan dans la caractérisation et dans la variabilité du climat régional sous l'anticyclone subtropical entre les Açores et l'archipel du Cap-Vert, en insistant sur le processus physique qui influe dans le système couple océan-atmosphère.
