Using his own experience in adults' training, the author first presents us with an enigma : whatever their intellectual ability, their reasons for choosing their profession, or the way the way they involve themselves in that field, teachers have a tendency, in their themselves in that field, teachers have a tendency, in their years what we'll call an imitative model - and at the same time obey to a reactive model directed against their education years. Thus they consider pedagogic litterature as being modelizing and predictive, due to the fact that it provides exogenous answers to questions which yet have not been clearly formulated. The author, starting from his own practice, uses a personal technique, an "inquiring diary", i. E. That retrospectively, he inventories all the situations where he faced peculiar problemes, which is the general case for any teacher. This "inquiring diary" presents itself as nothing more than an alibi, functioning as a stimulus whose sources are various (books, end-of-term reports,. . . ). Partant de son experience de formateur, l'auteur formule une enigme de depart : quelles que soient leurs competences intellectuelles, leurs motivations a choisir ce metier ou la facon dont ils investissent leur discipline, les enseignants s'accrochent a un savoir de l'experience fonctionnant sur un mode imitatif des maitres apprecies au cours de leur propre scolarite et sur un mode reactif contre cette meme scolarite. La litterature pedagogique est percue par eux comme modelisante et predictive, en tant qu'elle fournit des reponses exogenes a des questions non encore clairement formulees. L'auteur teste, a partir de son propre cheminement, la technique d'un "journal d'inquisition" ou, s'interrogeant retrospectivement sur ses souvenirs d'apprentissage, il inventorie des situationsproblemes personnels comme on en trouve sur le chemin de chaque enseignant. Ce journal se presente comme un simple alibi, une sorte d'enclencheur pouvant s'alimenter a diverses sources (les manuels, les bulletins de notes etc). Il aide a saisir les representations que l'on se fait des ecrivains pedagogiques.
