In the context of the intensification of international cooperation, increased polyethnicity and the multiculturalism of the world, mutual understanding between people and representatives of different cultures is an important task. Consequently, learning about diversity and otherness becomes extremely important to our societies. In this context of radical changes, the formation of intercultural competence becomes a matter of primary importance. The present research is based on a body of French, English and Russian research to provide an analysis of the scientific literature on the concept of "intercultural competence", its structure and its components, and the problems of evaluating intercultural competence. In terms of translation / interpretation didactics, the analysis of the scientific literature has shown that translation as a teaching tool is not considered among the factors contributing to the formation of intercultural competence. In this sense this study proposes to see how inetrcultural competence can be formed through translation / interpretation. The thesis proposes the necessary pedagogical conditions for the formation of intercultural competence as well as a system of translation and interpretation exercises specially designed and implemented during an educational experiment to demonstrate the effectiveness and potential of discipline "Interpretation" in the formation of intercultural competence at the university level. The results of the experimental work on the formation of intercultural competence in higher education show convincingly that translation and interpreting within the framework of specially organized training can contribute to the formation of intercultural competence. The results obtained can be applied in the curricula design, the university training of interpreters and translators in Russia.

Compte tenu du renforcement de la coopération internationale, de la polyéthnicité accrue et du multiculturalisme du monde, la compréhension mutuelle entre les personnes et les représentants des différentes cultures est une tâche importante. Par conséquent, l’apprentissage de la diversité et de l’altérité sont extrêmement importantes pour nos sociétés. Dans ce contexte de changements radicaux, la formation de la compétence interculturelle devient un sujet de première importance. La présente étude s’appuie sur un ensemble de recherches francophones, anglophones et russophones pour offrir une analyse de littérature scientifique sur la notion de «compétence interculturelle», sur sa structure et ses composantes ainsi que les problèmes d’évalution de la compétence interculturelle. Côté didactique de traduction/interprétation, l'analyse de la littérature scientifique a montré que la traduction comme un outil d'enseignement n'est pas considéré parmi les facteurs contribuant à la formation de la compétence interculturelle. Dans ce sens la thèse propose de voir comment la compétence inetrculturelle peut être formée par le biais de la traduction/interprétation. La présente recherche propose des conditions pedagogiques nécessaires pour la formation de la compétence interculturelle ainsi qu’un système d’exercices de traduction et d’interprétation specialement conçus et mis en oeuvre lors d’une expérience pédagogique pour démontrer l’efficacité et le potentiel de la discipline «Interprétation» dans la formation de la compétence interculturelle au niveau universitaire. Les résultats du travail expérimental sur la formation de la compétence interculturelle dans l’enseignement supérieur montrent d’une manière convaincante que la traduction et l’intreprétation dans le cadre de la formation spécialement organisée peuvent contribuer à former la compétence interculturelle. Les résultats obtenus peuvent être appliqués dans la rédaction de programmes éducatifs, la formation des interprètes et traducteurs en Russie.
