This study bears on the genesis and the evolution, over a ten year period, of an experience in the use of telematic exchanges linking together classes stemming partly from the freinet movement. Considerable information has been gathererd as to the communication mechanisms at work in this operation. This data has been processed through a problematic in the scope of systemics and communication theories. This work brings out the specificity of such horizontal communication with a particular focus on the dynamics of innovation involved. In the first part of the study, the network is viewed in its historical context, and varios theoretical approaches regarding information, communication and socio-technical network phenomenons are dealt with. The second part concentrates on the case study which presents a thorough analysis of the freinet network from 1985 to 1994. This study is organized according to the triptych proposed by some systemic approaches : performance, organization and evolution of the network. A synthesis of the results drawn from the use of various methodological tools has made it possible ot bring out several aspects of the communication process specific to this socio-technical network.

Cette etude porte sur la genese et l'evolution, durant une periode de dix ans, d'un phenomene d'utilisation des messageries telematiques reliant entre elles des classes issues en partie du mouvement freinet. Un grand nombre de donnees a ete recueilli sur les processus communicationnels de cette operation. Elles ont ete traitees avec une problematique qui releve de la systemique et de theories de la communication. Ce travail a permis d'explorer la specificite de cette communication horizontale en s'interessant plus particulierement a la dynamique d'innovation qui y est a l'oeuvre. Dans la premiere partie de l'ouvrage, le reseau est etudie dans son contexte historique et differentes approches theoriques concernant les phenomenes d'information, de communication et de reseaux sociotechniques sont exposees. La seconde partie concerne l'etude de cas qui presente une analyse approfondie du reseau "freinet" sur la periode 1985-94. Cette etude s'articule selon le triptyque propose par certaines demarches systemiques : le reseau en activite, en structuration et en evolution. Une synthese des resultats obtenus a la suite de l'utilisation de differents outils methodologiques a permis de mettre a jour plusieurs processus communications specifiques a ce reseau sociotechnique.
