La performance universitaire individuelle : un modèle à bornes individualisées

The aim of this thesis is to outline the determinants of students' achievlent. This analysis is carried out using a framework combining an educational production function, borrowed from the theory of human capital, with an ordinal dependent qualitative variable model. The fitted model is an ordinal model with a dependent qualitative variable. Usually, such a model is based upon identical bounds for all agent, in this dissertation, bounds are individualised following d. Bolduc et e. Poole proposals. The implementation of this individualisation is the main purpose of our work. Each bound is explicitly specified and then, reintroduced in the main achievment model. The test is implemented on two student samples (first and third undergraduate years). Our results show the existence of individualised bounds only for the third year, which are essentially function of social variables. This result can not be outlined in the standard ordinal formulation. So, the individualisation of the bounds allows us to achieve a better understanding of the making of the third year students achievment.

L'objectif de cette these est de mettre en evidence les determinants de la performance individuelle. Cette analyse s'effectue a l'aide d'un modele combinant une fonction de production empruntee a la theorie du capital humain avec un modele ordonne a variable dependante qualitative. Habituellement, un tel modele se caracterise par des bornes identiques pour tous les agents. L'identite des bornes nous parait cependant etre une hypothese restrictive et, a l'instar de d. Bolduc et e. Poole, nous posons l'hypothese de bornes individualisees. La mise en oeuvre satisfaisante de l'individualisation des bornes constitue l'enjeu essentiel de cette these. Nos propositions consistent en une modelisation explicite et unique de chaque borne. Il existe donc un modele par borne individualisee, modele reintroduit ensuite dans le modele de performance initial. Ces propositions ont ete testees sur deux echantillons construits a cet effet, le premier constitue d'etudiants de premiere annee d'administration economique et sociale (a. E. S. ), le second, d'etudiants de troisieme annee. Nos estimations montrent l'existence de bornes individualisees uniquement pour la troisieme annee d'etudes. Les bornes y sont majoritairement expliquees par des variables sociales ignorees dans la formulation ordonnee standard. L'individualisation des bornes nous permet donc d'affiner nos connaissances concernant la formation de performance individuelle de licence. Formation de performance individuelle de licence.
