Production, institutions et organisation de l'industrie : une contribution à la méthode économique

The main object is to study the recent developments of neo-institutionalism as an alternative to the standard theory of industrial organization. Methodological and history of economic thought analyses can show that a pure production approach of economics based on a realist method is still dominated by the superiority of a standard pure exchange perspective. The adoption of organization as a central concept in the analysis of productive activities modifies in a same movement the empirical content of the theory of the firm and the theory of the organization of industry. A new problematic common to standard and nonstandard economics can be defined as a study of the instutional structure of production. Then it is possible to confronte and test the various theories according to their capacities to cope with this research rpogramme.

L'objet de la these est d'etudier la theorie economique des institutions dans laperspective d'un renouvellement de la theorie de l'organisation de l'industrie. Une analyse de la methode et de l'histoire de la pensee economique en theorie de la production montre que l'etude des systemes d'economie industrielle, sur des bases realistes et axiomatiques, ne permet pas d'imposer le pertinence d'une problematique de la production face a la coherence de la problematique standard de l'echange. L'introduction de la notion d'organisation dans l'analyse des activites productives modifie la perspective theorique et la nature empirique de l'etude de la firme et de l'organisation de l'industrie. Les theories standards et non-standards se trouvent reunies dans une problematique commune visant a etudier la structure institutionnelle de la production. Il est alors possible de determiner des criteres permettant de confronter les differentes approches en fonction de leur capacite a repondre a ce programme de recherche.
