Au coeur du sens : objectivation et subjectivation chez les cadoshi de l'amazone peruvienne

On the basis of an ethnographic study of the candoshi (an amerindian group of some 2. 000 hunters and horticulturists in the upper amazon), the author analyses concepts of objectivation and subjectivation of this jivaroan people, showing how a difference between sensation and cognition is inappropriate in this society. After an ethnographic presentation of the candoshi, the author starts by considering some aspects of their notions of person and their relationship with their own ideas about existence. Then, he examines the states of the heart and its role in the person, showing how the candoshi brakes down the wall between sensation and cognition, and situates in the heart the focus of intentionallity. The later brings the author to examine in the second section, the space-time concept, the identification modes of others an the social morphology. In the third section, he examines the candoshi action theory through rituals relating to the principal action in this society : killing. Finally, he analyses the extension of this pragmatics of predation in other cultural aspects.

A partir de l'ethnographie des candoshi (peuple amerindien d'environ 2. 000 chasseurs et horticulteurs du haut amazone), l'auteur tente d'analyser les idees sur l'objectivation et la subjectivation de ce peuple jivaro, ou la distinction entre sensation et cognition n'existerait pas. Suite a une breve presentation des candoshi, il aborde dans la premiere partie du travail la notion de personne, ses composantes et les rapports qui existent entre celles-ci et d'autres considerations relatives aux concepts principaux organisant l'existence. Puis il analyse les etats du coeur et son role dans la configuration de la personne, analyse qui permet entre autres de noter l'amalgame entre cognition et sensation que les candoshi realisent. Cet examen permet egalement de situer le foyer de l'intentionnalite dans le coeur. Celle-ci amene, dans la deuxieme partie de ce travail, a penetrer dans l'etat des choses tel qu'il est concu par les candoshi ; un parcours qui va des parametres fondamentaux de la conception de l'espace / temps a la morphologie sociale en passant par les modes d'identification d'autrui. Dans la troisieme partie, il aborde la theorie candoshi de l'action a partir de l'analyse des rituels qui entourent + l'acte ; par excellence dans cette societe, a savoir la mise a mort. Enfin, l'auteur analyse l'extension de cette pragmatique predatrice a d'autres domaines de la culture.
