Etude de la parenté chez les Ntsong du Kwilu, en liaison avec le substrat symbolique (Zai͏̈re)

This work outlines a profile of the political and familial structures of the ntsong ethny, both on base of the data collected on the field and in terms of historical perspectives. It focuses on the definition of the concept of paternity which appears to be the fundamental principle of organization of this matrilineal society. The first chapter is devoted to the definition of the ntsong ethnicity that appears to be a creation of the colonial administration but on base of a traditional status of landowner. The second one deals with the nature of the authority of the political chief which is founded in his identification to the father as this who gives life. The third one completes the description of the structures of authority and studies the nature of the figure of the father as it appears in the system of kinship and marriage. The last one shows how the subsequent valorization of masculinity expresses oneself in the kinship terminology and how the marriage rules arise from the underlying inspiration coming out of the outline of the ntsong social structures, this of the gift of life by the father and its subsequent obligation in return. Its expressions are summarized in the conclusion.

Ce travail esquisse un portrait des structures familiales et politiques de l'ethnie ntsong, sur base des donnees recueillies sur le terrain et dans une perspective historique. Il a pour theme principal la definition du concept de paternite ou principe d'organisation fondamental de cette societe matrilineaire. Le premier chapitre est consacre a la definition de l'ethnicite ntsong qui est une creation de l'administration coloniale mais sur base d'un statut traditionnel de proprietaire foncier. Le second traite de la nature de l'autorite du chef politique, fondee dans son odentification au pere en tant que donneur de vie. Le troisieme complete la description des structures d'autorite et etudie la nature de cette figure du pere, telle qu'elle apparait au travers de la parente et du mariage. Le dernier chapitre montre comment la valorisation du masculin qui s'ensuit s'exprime dans la terminologie de parente et comment les regles de mariage procedent de l'inspiration sous-jascente degagee par ce portrait des structures sociales des ntsong, soit celle du don de la vie par le pere et de l'obligation du contredon. Les expressions de cette inspiration fondamentale du don et contre-don de la vie sont resumees dans la conclusion de ce travail.
