La loi et l'affaire : un ethnologue chez les policiers

This thesis is divided into tow major parts. The first consists of an ethnological study of tow different services within the police : the central police station for public security of the 16th district of paris (officiers in uniform) and the paris brigade for the protection of minors (police officers belonging) to the criminal investigation department). The second part represents a theoretical reflection on tow predominant and essential characteristics in the world of the police : the "affair" and the law. The "affair" is defined as "the object of the group's desire" : the affair the group is waiting for, the one everyone wants, the one the group finally calls its own. The various aspects of the relationship between police officers and the law are analyzed.

Cette these est constituee de deux parties principales. La premiere consiste en un travail ethnographique realise au sein de deux services de police : le commissariat central de securite publique du seizieme arrondissement de paris (policiers en tenue) et la brigade de protection des mineurs de paris (policiers appartenant a la police judiciaire). La seconde partie est faite d'une reflexion theorique a propos de deux caracteristiques dominantes et essentielles de l'univers policier : l'affaire et la loi. L'affaire est qualifiee d'"objet du desir du groupe" qui l'attend, la convoite, et parfois la traite. Les rapports existant entre les policiers et la loi sont analyses sous leurs differents aspects.
