Abstract EN:

The scythian theologians (from scythia minor - dobroudja, romania) are not well known in modern literature. The first objective of our dissertation is to fill in this gap by making a thorough presentation of the scythian theologians from 440 to 553, such as : john of tomis (5th century), dionisius exiguus, abbot maxentius, the authors of the epistula ad episcopos, and the scythian collector of the collectio palatina. We offer clarification of, and new substantial information concerning, their identity as well as authorship and dating of their works and we propose unedited translations. Subsequently, we trace their profile (monastic, patristic and bilingual education, christian humility, doctrinal orthodoxy) and their role as mediators between the orient and the west, and the promoters of the formula "unus de trinitate passus est carne". The second objective is to propose a terminological correction (the scythian formula theosinthropopaschite or theosarkopaschite and not theopaschite) and a distinction between theopaschitism and theoanthropopaschitlsm. Theoanthropopaschitism is a theological system of three-dimensional nature (trinitary, chrystological and soteriological). The doctrine it express holds that one person of the trinity bore the suffering within his human nature, because of the composition of the two realities ("christus compositus"), which is a communion, a living but not engulfing union, where the trinitary divinity is not in itself dominated by the suffering. The addition to the scythian formula ("unus de trinitate passus et communicat carne") of the word "communicaf shows even more clearly the soteriological aspect of theoanthropopaschitism through the transfiguration of the human suffering because of the composition of the two realities, which is the divine-human communion of compassion and love (koinonikotheoagapism, hypertheoagapism).
