Abstract EN:

If some christian traditions (eastern orthodox, catholic, anglican) have retained the episcopal organization inherited from the first centuries of the church, some others have dropped it completely (presbyterian-reformed) or, as in some lutheran and methodist churches, have kept only certain elements of the episcopate. However, episcopacy (and more generally the supra-congregational ministry often called "episkope") has been an issue both of the multilateral ecumenical dialogue and of the bilateral dialogues between confessional families so that significative convergences can be pointed in official reporting documents : bem ("baptism - eucharist - ministry" : the major document of the multilateral dialogue) and bilateral agreements implying methodist, lutheran, anglican and roman catholic traditions. Nevertheless eastern orthodox and presbyterian-reformed traditions are not totally left out of these convergences. Furthermore, several of these confessions would think of recognizing a certain primacy of the bishop of rome, under conditions to be determined.

Si certaines conditions chretiennes (orthodoxe, catholiques, anglicane) ont garde l'organisation episcopale heritee des premiers siecles de l'eglise, d'autres l'ont abandonnee (confession presbytero-reformee) ou n'ont, comme dans un certain nombre d'eglise lutheriennes et methodistes, conserve que certains elements de la fonction episcopale. Cependant l'episcopat ( et plus generalement le ministere supra-paroissial souvent denomme "episkope") a ete un objet du dialogue oecumenique multilateral et des dialogues bilateraux entre familles confessionnelles, a tel point que l'on peut noter des convergences significatives dans les documents officiels rendant compte des dialogues : le bem ("bapteme - eucharistie - ministere", document majeur du dialogue multilateral), ainsi que les accords bilateraux impliquant les traditions methodiste, lutherienne, anglicane et catholique romaine. Les traditions orthodoxe et presbytero-reformee ne sont cependant pas completement a l'ecart de ces convergences. De plus, plusieurs de ces traditions envisageraient, sous des conditions a determiner, la reconnaissance d'une certaine primaute de l'eveque de rome.
