At the very time he expresses particular interest in the theme of salvation, luke remains rather cautious as for the salutary effectiveness of jesus' death. The pecularity has been accounted for in various ways. After considering the theory of " reidstribution " of soteriology on other items of jesus' life, we have been brought to direct our research towards the study of the salutary value his birth is credited with. Therefore our whole attention has been devoted to the two preliminary chapters of this writings to theophilus, in which we have studied the works of god, their context and recognition as well as the presentation of john the baptist and jesus. We have come to the conclusion that luke attaches considerable importance to the birth of jesus in relation with god's scheme. For the author of the writings to theophilus, his coming, which bears salvation owing to the fact that it reveals god as kindly disposed towards men, incarnates god's offer for salvation. We shall consequently submit that when jesus was born, god's salvation was made flesh. At least from an exclusively" stauros-centred" point of wiew, there is a shift in what the emphasis is laid upon. The pattern of advent has obviously been preferred to that of expiatory death.

Alors qu'il manifeste un interet particulier pour le theme du salut, luc reste tres reserve quant a l'efficacite salutaire de la mort de jesus, cette singularite a ete diversement expliquee. Apres avoir retenu l'hypothese d'une "redistribution" de la soteriologie sur d'autres elements de la vie de jesus, nous avons ete amene a orienter notre recherche sur la valeur salvifique attribuee a sa naissance. Notre effort s'est donc porte sur l'etude des deux chapitres liminaires de l'oeuvre a theophile. Nous y avons examine le faire de dieu, son contexte, sa reconnaissance, ainsi que la presentation de jean-baptiste et de jesus. Nous sommes arrive a la conclusion que luc fait une place toute particuliere a la naissance de jesus dans le dessein de dieu. Pour l'auteur de l'oeuvre a theophile, cette naissance, porteuse de salut du fait qu'elle revele la disposition bienveillante de dieu a l'egard des hommes, incarne l'offre de salut de dieu. Nous formulerons donc la these suivante ; luc considere qu'avec la venue au monde de jesus, le salut de dieu s'est fait chair. Un deplacement d'accent a donc ete opere, du moins par rapport a un point de vue exclusivement "staurocentrique". Le modele de l'avenement a ostensiblement ete prefere a celui de la mort expiatoire.
