In the yearsof the '80s, new models of production have emerged within the world economy. The investigation of the capacity and degree of adaptation of greek economy to the new production models having as a main characteristic the so-called "flexibility" - constitutes the exact aim of this thesis. The findings have shown decisively the type of adaptation (defensive flexibility) on which the dynamism of the production system of the greater thessalonoki area and, in extension, of the most important part of greek industry, is based.

Les annees quatre-vingt ont ete le cadre chronique des importantes changements intervenus dans les modeles de production, tant au niveau international qu'en ce qui concerne le cas grec. L'investigation de la capacite et du degre d'adaptation de l'industrie grecque aux "nouveaux developpements" des modeles productifs - avec pour epicentre ce qu'on appelle la "flexibilite" - constitue l'exact objet de cette these. Les resultats de la recherche ont montre de facon decisive la forme d'adaptation (flexibilite defensive), sur laquelle se fonde le dynamisme du systeme productif du departement de thessalonique et par extension, d'une grande et importance partie de l'industrie grecque.
