In his inaugural speech as professor at lyon in 1929, de lubac spoke of the new apologetics which he wanted to establish, to teplace its former narrow and restrictive mental framework. He took part in the launching of a new term and spoke of fundamental theology. This discipline relates to transformed apologetics which is an integral part of theology. To demonstrate the whole of the christian mystery, its beauty ant its truth, became an essential task. The transformation could only be achieved through being attentive to those to whom it was addressed, their propccupations and their expectations. Atr this stage, de lubac was following in the footsteps of blondel. However, an inaugural lecture is the outline of a programme. It is for this reason that we are studying his work, in order to verify his original intention and to give substance to the concept of fundamental theology. De lubac's work is very diverse ; we are concentrating on his writings about atheist humanism, about the supernatural, about missions, about the concept of god and about revelation. One can begin to mat out a theological method through the use of paradox and through the philosophical and theological rehabitilation of the concept of mystery. We underline the historie role played by de lubac ; his concept of fundamental theology can be illustrated through his approach to his profession of theologian. En inaugurant sa chaire a lyon a 1929, de lubac s'exprime sur l'apologetique qu'il veut renouveler en lui faisant quitter le cadre etroit et defensif qui etait le sien. Il participe au lancement d'un nouveau terme et parle de theologie fondamentale. Cette discipline designe une apologetique transformee, faisant alors partie integrante de la theologie. Montrer l'ensemble du mystere chretien, sa beaute et sa verite devient une tache essentielle. Elle ne peut s'effectuer qu'en etant attentive a ses destinataires, a leurs preoccupations, a leurs attentes. A ce stade, de lubac se situe dans le sillage de blondel. Mais une lecon inaugurale est aussi l'esquisse d'un programme. C'est pourquoi nous "visitons" l'oeuvre pour verifier l'intention premiere et donner un contenu au concept de theologie fondamentale. L'oeuvre lubacienne est d'une vaste diversite; nous privilegions les ecrits sur l'humanisme athee, sur le surnaturel, sur le missions, sur l'idee de dieu, sur la revelation. Une logique theologique s'esquisse par l'usage du paradoxe et par la rehabilitation philosophique et theologique du concept de mystere, nous soulignons le role historique joue par de lubac, son concept de theologie fondamentale s'illustre a travers sa maniere de faire son metier de theologien. Nous situons de lubac par rapport aux amis avec qui il dialogue sans cesse : blondel, teilhard de chardin, balthasar, bouillard.
