This thesis undertakes the interrogation of three principle differences in Derrida, which we define as being the primary ontological disjunctions. The main hypothesis advanced is that these three differences are at the foundation of every clear and distinct idea, spanning the domains of epistemology – with the notion of infinity – to biology – with the idea of sexual difference. In this way, the thesis proposes to measure the mathematical scope of Derrida’s work and of his concept of écriture, so as to think the question of how, given that difference is a rigorously primary and fundamental idea, différance would be able, or not, to articulate itself.

Cette thèse consiste dans l’interrogation de trois différences principales chez Derrida, lesquelles nous définissons comme étant les disjonctions ontologiques premières. L’hypothèse est que ces trois différences sont au fondement de toute idée claire et distincte, dès l’épistémologie, avec la notion d’infini, jusqu’à la biologie, avec l’idée de la différence sexuelle. Dans ce sens la thèse se propose de mesurer la portée mathématique du travail de Derrida et de son concept d’écriture, afin de penser comment, une fois que la différence est une idée rigoureusement première et fondamentale, pourrait s’articuler, ou non, la différance.
