This thesis aims to study the heritage and the fortune of ancient philosophy in the work of Giordano Bruno. Renaissance man, he is steeped in ancient philosophy and his work is at the crossroads of two worlds. Rethinking the ancient philosophy, he renews it thanks to his analyzes and his interpretations by opening the way to new questions starting from the reception of the ancient philosophy. The thesis, while taking into account the diversity of fields and interests of Giordano Bruno, focus more particularly on his contribution on the one hand in cosmology, on the other hand concerning the theory of knowledge. But the originality of the work lies in showing that these disciplines are not studied for themselves but with an ethical aim. It is therefore a question of granting the neglected brunian ethical considerations all their importance.

Cette thèse se propose d'étudier l'héritage et la fortune de la philosophie ancienne dans l'œuvre de Giordano Bruno. Homme de la Renaissance, Giordano Bruno est pétri de philosophie ancienne et son œuvre se trouve à la croisée de deux mondes. Repensant la philosophie ancienne, il la renouvelle grâce à ses analyses et à ses interprétations en ouvrant la voie, à partir de sa réception, à de nouveaux questionnements. La thèse, tout en prenant en compte la diversité des domaines et des intérêts de Giordano Bruno, s'attache plus particulièrement à son apport d'une part en matière de cosmologie, d'autre part relativement à la théorie de la connaissance. Mais l'originalité du travail réside dans le fait de montrer que ces disciplines ne sont pas étudiées pour elles-mêmes mais dans une perspective éthique. Il s'agit donc d'accorder aux considérations éthiques bruniennes délaissées toute leur importance.
