The aim of this theme is to define the role which has played by the lebanese "painters-women" in foundation and developement in the contemporary painting in lebanon from 1946 to 1986. The basic hypothesis for this work put on consideration the conditions which has encouraged the artistic activites of women, their artistic formation and their attachement with the imitation of occidental arts. Their artistic activities appear in many domains like, teaching the arts, creating the galleries, exhibiting in lebanon and many foreign countries, introducing new tendencies and technics, illustrating books and partnering in the artistic critic and investigation. The "painters-women" have known a success which has translated by obtaining various prices and reaching their paintings into international museums.

La question traitee dans ce travail est de savoir les limites du role joue par les femmes-peintres libanaises dans l'instauration et l'evolution de la peinture contemporaine au liban, durant la periode allant de 1946 a 1986. Les hypotheses de base de ce travail prennent en consideration les conditions ayant favorise l'activite artistique des femmes, leur formation artistique et leur attachement a l'imitation de la peinture occidentale. Leurs activites artistiques touchent des domaines comme l'enseignement des arts, la creation de galeries, l'exposition au liban et a l'etranger, l'introduction de tendances et de techniques nouvelles, l'illustration de livres, la critique et la recherche artistique. Les femmes-peintres ont connu un succes qui s'est traduit par l'obtention de nombreux prix et par l'acces de leurs tableaux aux musees internationaux.
