The object of the thesis is to draw a parallel between reationalism and mysticism, which ar fundamental themes of the plotinus's philosophy. If the first part analyses the three hypotasis of plotin, rational structure of the system, the second one tries a new experiment, by a new approach to the mystic and aesthetic problems. 1st part : from the inanimate matter, the passive and opaque receptacle for any reality, to the idea of the nature, the living world of the philosopher is constructed. Plotin is concerned with a spiritualist physics, for a universal motion which includes every living creature. The soul's and intelligence's study constitutes the rational part of the plotinian doctrine. The soul, by her dual nature, at one divine and at once material, is the essential connection between the tangible world and the intelligible world. By her lower part, the soul organizes reality, and by her superior's one, she joins intelligence in the one's contemplation. 2nd part : after the analysis of platonician and plotinian aesthetics, hermetism and orientalism, apparently unfamiliar to plotinus, will allow us to understand precisely the philosopher's spirituality, from silence to union with the one.

L'objet de la these est d'etablir un parallele fondamental dans l'etude de la philosophie, celui du rationalisme et du mysticisme. Si la premiere partie s'attache a l'analyse des hypostases plotiniennes, qui edifient la structure rationnelle de la pensee du philosophe, la seconde tente une approche plus mystique et plus esthetique des problemes que rencontre plotin. 1ere partie : de la matiere, receptacle passif de toute realite, a l'idee de nature, peu a peu se construit l'univers vivant de plotin, dans le souci constant d'une physique spiritualiste, ou le mouvement se fait universel, entrainant avec lui l'etre vivant. L'etude de l'ame et de l'intelligence constitue la structure intellectuelle de la doctine plotinienne. L'ame, par sa double nature, a la fois divine et materielle, est le lien essentiel entre le monde sensible et le monde divin. Par sa partie inferieure, elle est l'organisatrice du reel, par sa partie superieure, elle rejoint l'intelligence dans la contemplation de l'un. 2eme partie : apres l'etude comparative des esthetiques platoniciennes et plotiniennes, l'eclairage de la philosophie plotinienne par des pensees qui ne lui son qu'apparemment etrangeres (l'hermetisme et l'orientalisme), permettra d'approcher davantage la spiritualite plotinienne, du silence a l'union
