The text set a compared study of the notion of number in three mathematicians: Dedekind, Cantor and Frege. The first part is essentially mathematical. For each of the three authors, we successively present the historic and mathematical context, his theories of natural numbers, of real numbers and of the transfinite. For each account, complementary remarks of various natures are added. The second part is more philosophical. The principal chapter lies in the presentation of the respective philosophies number in the three choosed mathematicians. We after show how the concept of number and the set theory are linked. We end by a more general conclusion where two types of number appear : the mathematical number and the philosophical number.

Il s'agit d'une étude comparée de la notion de nombre chez trois mathématiciens : Dedekind, Cantor et Frege. La première partie est essentiellement mathématique. Pour chacun des trois auteurs, on présente son parcours historico-mathématique, ses théories des nombres naturels, des nombres réels et du transfini. A chaque expose, sont ajoutées des remarques complémentaires de différentes natures. On termine par une comparaison des diverses théories. La seconde partie est plus philosophique. Le chapitre central consiste en la présentation des philosophies respectives du nombre chez les trois mathématiciens choisis. On montre ensuite comment s'articulent le concept de nombre et la théorie des ensembles. On termine par une conclusion plus général ou apparaissent deux types de nombre : le nombre mathématique et le nombre philosophique.
