Beyond a simple opposition between modernity and postmodernity, the question of the status of the reason, the question of the sense, the question of the self, are currently submitted to a radical revision with a number of challenges, which may be linked to the theory of the action, to the return of the (responsible) subject, to the idea of public space, as well as to the transformation of our democratic societies. The taking into account of the practical reason is indeed an orientation of the thought toward the acting, which takes on an increasingly political dimension and is prolonged in terms of social justice. It is seen that the Anglo-American thought constitutes here the background of productive confrontations in the Franco-German polemic. The purpose of our investigation is to carry out a through examination of a certain number of questions raised in these triangular debates and to explore the various regions of the sense, the levels of the experience where the identity of a self is spread gradually. By combining conceptual analyses, theoretical elaborations, critical rebuildings and studies of innovation in progress, the thesis restores a state of researchs and discussions which testify to the start of the dialogue between the "analytical" tradition and the "continental" tradition.

Centrales pour toute réflexion philosophique, la question du statut de la raison, la question du sens, la question du soi, sont actuellement soumises à une révision radicale, qui va bien au-delà d'une simple opposition entre modernité et postmodernité à nombre de défis, liés à la théorie de l'action, au retour du sujet (responsable), à l'idée d'espace public, ainsi qu'à la transformation de nos sociétés démocratiques. La prise en compte de la raison pratique est en effet une réorientation de la pensée vers l'agir, lequel revêt une dimension de plus en plus politique et se prolonge en termes de justice sociale. On le voit, la pensée anglo-américaine constitue ici l'arrière-plan des confrontations productives dans la polémique franco-allemande. Se donnant pour objectif d'effectuer un examen approfondi d'un certain nombre de questions soulevées dans ces débats triangulaires, notre enquête est menée par une approche plus vaste susceptible d'explorer les contrées diverses que traverse le sens, les niveaux de l'expérience où se déploie progressivement l'identité d'un soi. Combinant analyses conceptuelles, élaborations théoriques, reconstructions critiques et études d'innovation en cours, la thèse restitue l'état des recherches et des discussions qui témoignent d'une remise en chantier du dialogue entre la tradition " analytique " et la tradition " continentale ".
