Disappeard since two hundred years, the historia is a musical form to which m. A. Chaprentier was very interesseting. The study of the french and italian origins of the historia and their limited partners, the discovery of places where they were played, of their religious functions, at last an analysis of the librettos have allowed to rediscover the functions of a musical form at once religious and dramatic, where music, we have discussed it all over this study, takes the place of the scenery, costumes and stage business lacking during the performance.

Disparu depuis deux cent ans, l'histoire sacree est un genre musical auquel m. A. Charpentier s'interessa tout particulierement. L'etude des origines francaises et italiennes des histoires sacrees, celle des commanditaires, la decouverte des lieux d'execution, de la place que ces oeuvres occupaient dans la vie luturgique, enfin une analyse des livrets ont permis de retrouver les fonctions d'un genre musical a la fois religieux et dramatique ou la musique, nous le montrons tout au long de cette etude, remplace les decors, costumes et jeux sceniques absents lors de l'execution.
