Abstract EN:

At the end of the century, in this post-modern era, in the midst of a world in crisis, i wished to study the principle valves which will guide the future of the art as the next millenium approaches, through the many-faceted work of the philosopher, musicologist and composer hugues dufourt (frenchman, born in 1943). The twenty five year period of the reflection and composition from 1968 to 1992 have been drawn upon to produce these three volumes respectively titled : history (including dufourt's works), construction (form, space, time, harmony, counterpoint and timbre), and concept (institution, social-political implications and some philosophical aspects of the art of sound). The overall analysis of the social history of the corpus has given rise to an updated interpretation of a new "musica mundana" extolling modernism without concession to an evolutionary creative process. In short, i have highlighted the dichotomy existing between h. Dufourt the composer, who has seemed to be a melancholy and solitary artist whishing to transcend ugliness or deformity, and h. Dufourt the philosopher whose more optimistic and tranquil writings prophesy art having a universal perspective.
