Spectral current, settled in France by Tristan Murail and Gérard Grisey revolutionnized the ancient parameters of musical theory. Sound material made with acoustic components of the sound fertilizes writing and becomes an essentiel element in musical composition. Thus, the notion of sound colour, metaphoriser expression used in the technics of music has been taking a tangible menaçant since the seventies, through the breaking up of timbre into the physical data. The analysis of sound allows today to redefine the timbre as an entity which includes the parameters (frequency, strength, length, space. . . ). The breaking up and the modelling of sound are becoming the new matter of musical work.

Le courant spectral, instauré en France par Tristan Murail et Gérard Grisey, a révolutionné les anciens paramètres de la rhétorique musicale. Le matériau sonore, constitué des composantes acoustiques du son, féconde l'écriture et devient un élément essentiel dans la composition musicale. Ainsi la notion de couleur sonore, expression métaphorique utilisée dans la technique de la musique prend un sens tangible depuis les années 1970, par la décomposition du timbre en données physiques. L'analyse du son permet aujourd'hui de redéfinir le timbre comme une entité incluant tous les paramètres (fréquence, intensité, durée, espace. . . ). La décomposition du son et sa modélisation deviennent la nouvelle substance de l'oeuvre musicale.
