The study of the continuation of robert de boron's merlin, known as the suite du merlin (written c. 1235-1240), deals with the folowing issues : chapter i description of the two known french manuscripts of the suite du merlin (huth ms. And cambridge ms. ), the french fragments which have been identified, and the foreing adapatations of the work. Chaper ii the theories concerning the suite du merlin and the hypothetical post-vulgate cycle. Chapter iii the relationship between the suite du merlin and its spanish translation, el baladro del sabio merlin : study of the episodes peculiar to the baladro. Chapter iv study of the sources and the elaboration of the episode of the dolorous stroke. Chapter v the episode of mordred's incestuous birth : the evolution of a theme. Chapter vi analysis of the characters. Chapter vii nature and role of the supernatural in the suite du merlin chapter viii description of the composition methods adopted by the writer. Chapter ix study of the narrative expressions and technics used to represent time in the suite du merlin. Chapter x analysis of the main characteristics of the narrative and dramatic style. Chapter xi the vocabulary and the descriptive elements.

La continuation du merlin de robert de boron, connue sous le nom de suite du merlin et composee entre 1235 et 1240, fait l'objet de cette etude, consacree aux aspects suivants : chap. I description des deux manuscrits francais conserves de la suite du merlin (ms. Huth et ms. Cambridge), des divers fragments francais identifies, ainsi que des versions etrangeres. Chap. Ii expose des diverses theories concernant la suite du merlin et l'hypothetique cycle auquel elle aurait appartenu a l'origine, le cycle post-vulgate. Chap. Iii les rapports entre la suite du merlin et sa traduction espagnole, el baladro del sabio merlin : etude des episodes particuliers au texte espagnol. Chap. Iv etude des sources et de l'elaboration de l'episode du coup douloureux. Chap. V l'episode de la naissance incestueuse de mordred : l'evolution d'un theme. Chap. Vi analyse des personnages. Chap.
